New York (April 2, 2008) -- Motor Trend Auto Shows, Inc. (MTAS), the nation’s largest auto show producer, today announced plans to produce the Mississippi International Auto Show in Jackson, Miss. The new show, developed by MTAS in conjunction with the Mississippi Automobile Dealers’ Association, will be held January 23 – 25, 2009 at the soon-to-be-completed Jackson Convention Complex.
“The Mississippi International Auto Show represents many ‘firsts’ for us,” said Bill Lehman, president of the Mississippi Automobile Dealers’ Association. “Not only will Mississippi be hosting the state’s first-ever international auto show, but the show is scheduled to be the inaugural event held in the Convention Center. This is a big deal for our state and a real plus for our Capital City.”
A first-class auto show in Mississippi had been in the idea stage for several years.
“Finding the right location, with enough floor space, was very important,” continued Lehman. “The selection of Motor Trend as our show producer and the opening of a first-class Convention Center downtown both made the show possible.”
Slotted to open in January 2009, the new Capital City Convention Center is part of Jackson’s downtown image enhancement program, promoting Jackson for business development, tourism and residential relocation. The city’s long-range plans for revitalizing downtown Jackson caught the interest of Motor Trend Auto Shows’ Senior Vice President and General Manager, John Marriott.
“Not only is the Capital City Convention Center’s location ideal, but its being built adjacent to the Mississippi Telecommunications Conference & Training Center enables us to look at future growth opportunities for the show,” said Marriott. “We look forward to welcoming area residents in January and are very pleased to be adding the Mississippi International Auto Show to our family of first-class events.”
The Mississippi International Auto Show will be presented by the Mississippi Automobile Dealers’ Association and produced by Motor Trend Auto Shows, Inc.
